This solid oak “Fumay” pair of dining armchairs is considered a reference among furniture from the 1950s to the 1970s. These dining armchairs perfectly exemplify why, through their proportions, unique concepts, and the highest level of woodworking, the French duo created timeless furniture. These chairs showcase beautiful lines, from Guillerme and Chambron's signature tapered legs to the elegantly crafted armrests, which are carved from light oak with the utmost care. This armchair model is made with meticulous attention to detail and offers exceptional comfort. This version of the 'Fumay' model with armrests is distinguished by its refined curves and the outstanding craftsmanship characteristic of the Guillerme Chambron duo. During the Second World War, the two formed a deep friendship while imprisoned in a Prussian prisoner-of-war camp. Guillerme had graduated from the École Boulle in 1934 with a degree in design and architecture, while Chambron had studied at the School of Applied Arts in Reims. After the war, Guillerme moved to Lille in northern France, and Chambron left his job as a painter and decorator in Paris to join him in 1948. In 1949, the pair met Émile Dariosecq, a skilled cabinetmaker who enthusiastically agreed to manufacture their designs. Together, they founded "Votre Maison" ("Your Home"), a company that built a worldwide reputation for creating functional yet beautifully designed furniture for everyday life. Their pieces, primarily crafted from various shades of waxed oak, reflected the mid-century modernist movement that emerged after the war. Guillerme worked as the designer, Chambron handled promotion and sales, and Dariosecq's workshop brought their creations to life. Over its lifetime, "Votre Maison" produced over two thousand models, leaving a lasting impact on the world of design. One of their most famous and sought-after pieces is the Grand Repos armchair, a stately, high-backed piece with a sculptural oak frame, six spindles, and plush cushions.
