Hans Anliker Mid-Century Dining Chairs for Horgen Glarus, 1962 An exceptional collection of 29 dining chairs designed in 1962 by Swiss architect Hans Anliker and produced by Horgen Glarus, Switzerland’s oldest and most prestigious furniture manufacturer. Rarely available in such large quantity, these chairs present a unique opportunity for both private collectors and large-scale interior projects. Some sources suggest this model originated as a student project under Willy Guhl at the Kunstgewerbeschule Zürich, giving the design added academic and cultural significance. Regardless of its origin, the chair remains a striking example of Swiss mid-century modern design, admired for its sculptural form and honest construction. The chairs feature a leaf-shaped bentwood seat and backrest, ergonomically curved for comfort. The pyramidal rear legs provide both structural stability and a bold architectural silhouette, making the design equally engaging from the front, side, and back. Crafted in solid wood and bentwood, each chair displays a warm patina that enhances its authentic mid-century character. All chairs are in good vintage condition, structurally sound, with age-appropriate wear consistent with six decades of use.
