About the Item

ettore sottsass, austrian-born designer of global fame as co-founder of the „memphis“ group became a true „renaissance man“ of the 20th century. every design museum all over the world owns some „sottsass“, his „valentine“ typewriter became a pop art design icon and his office furniture designs for olivetti defined „new work“ in the 60s and 70s. the "harlow" dining chair bridges the gap between office design and pop and fantasy: the rare dining chair immediately reminds you of italian bars and discotheques of the seventies. the chair has been re-upholstered by our master upholsterer and covered with a luxurious woollen velvet fabric from Kvardrat (Gentle 2, Col. 113) in a cool ice blue. the aluminium leg/feet is in good vintage condition, it shows signs of use and time. cast manufacturer's mark to underside ‘poltranova dis. arch. ettore sottsass’. literature: ivan mietton, ‚sottsass: poltranova 1958-1974', milan, 2021, p. 228-229.
