About the Item

These chairs are made of Rosewood with leather seats and were produced c. 1960 by iadê. The pieces present rectangular profiles of solid Rosewood with large and comfortable seats and slightly leaning backrests in beautiful Rosewood veneers. iadê – Instituto de Arte e Decoração, was a school founded in 1959 by the Italian, scenographer and professor of art history Italo Bianchi and by the professor and decorator Álvaro Landerset Simões, of Portuguese nationality. In the 1950s, when São Paulo was becoming a metropolis, iadê set out to build the future of industrial design in the city to supply what was still lacking in the city. Ítalo Bianchi designed all furniture present in iadê, so we believe this piece can be one of his designs. We spoke with his family and they confirmed the attribution. Pentágono was a carpentry shop founded by the Spanish Pablo Brioñes, which had a partnership with iadê and received this name according to the school brand design.
