About the Item

Set of ten dining chairs, mahogany, velvet, brass, Italy, circa 1940 An elegant set of dining chairs that captures the distinctive charm of Italian design from the late 1930s into the early 1940s. The backrest serves as the expressive focal point, where the design truly finds its voice. Four horizontal slats define the form, each pierced by a series of elongated ovals, linked like a stylized chain or a rhythm of interlocking loops. The legs of the chairs are understated yet carefully resolved, contributing to the overall sense of balance and proportion within the design. Executed in solid mahogany, they are meticulously carved featuring raised vertical ridges, contributing to its refined appearance. The rear legs extend upward to form the frame of the backrest in a single, continuous gesture. A thoughtful design shaped by a strong tradition of craftsmanship and artisanal excellence. Please note that there are differences in the height of the backrests, as well as in the spacing between the horizontal slats of the back. Additionally, the fabric is in used condition with holes and wear marks. Reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.
