About the Item

Johannes Andersen for Uldum Møbelfabrik, pair of chairs ‘Juliane’, oak, fabric, Denmark, 1960s This pair of dining chairs is designed by Danish designer Johannes Andersen and produced by Uldum Møbelfabrik in Denmark. The chairs are executed in oak and upholstered in off-white fabric. The legs are tapered and the back is carved and has a beautiful, organic sculpted form that branches out from the middle in a thicker slat that is attached to the seat. Please note that these chairs are in used condition and that we advise reupholstery before use. Reupholstery can be done before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece contains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.

Jørgen Bo and Vilhelm Wohlert ‘Louisiana’ Dining Chair in Oak and Suede
By Vilhelm Wohlert, Poul Jeppesens Møbelfabrik
Located in Waalwijk, NL
Jørgen Bo and Vilhelm Wohlert for P. Jeppesens Møbelfabrik, ‘Louisiana’ dining chair, oak, suede, Denmark, 1958. The ‘Louisiana’ chair was initially created for the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Denmark, by the Danish architects Jørgen Bo and Vilhelm Wohlert. Inside the modern building complex the chairs were supposed to serve as functional chairs for events. Therefore, Bo and Wohlert had a comfortable chair in mind that is easily stackable. The round seat with off-white suede upholstery and a curved backrest provide comfort. Jørgen Bo (1919-1999) first studied at the School of Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts until 1941 and in 1960 was appointed as a professor. Together with Vilhelm Wohlert, Jørgen Bo designed...
