About the Item
An impressive and rare set of four forged wrought iron and saddle leather dining chairs in lovely vintage condition. Likely made in Spain the 1970s, these strikingly attractive chairs will enhance any setting with their distinctive, rugged quality and a classically timeless aesthetic of muscular sophistication.
Generously sized, reassuringly heavy and very comfortable, these wonderful chairs were forged from wrought iron and have thick chocolate brown saddle leather seats and backs.
The tubular wrought iron frames are particularly lovely, having wonderful curves with legs and arms in the form of two joined semi-circles in the X-Frame, Curule or Savonarola style. They have bulbous feet and back finials and arched underside and back supports. The excellent quality thick saddle leather is wrapped around the frames and held in place by a series of rivets, which are all present and correct.
All in all this is a super set of classic chairs and their timeless design and excellent quality will add any interior.
CONDITION
These are in good vintage condition. Structurally sound and sturdy, they have only to-be-expected marks to show their age including some minor marks to the leather, a graze to the leather on one of the backs and minor nicks and ageing to the wrought iron frames. The leather has been treated to keep them rejuvenated and looking their best. Overall they’re a wonderful and impressive set of chairs in lovely vintage condition, and if well looked after they should be just as gorgeous and usable for generations to come – please see the photos.
