Exceptional set of six Maison Regain dining chairs from 1960s France, crafted in solid elm wood with original cognac leather sling seats and backs showing a strong, beautiful patina, in the style of Pierre Chapo.
This refined and characterful set of six dining chairs was produced by Maison Regain in France during the 1960s. Executed in solid elm wood, the chairs display the robust, architectural language for which the atelier is known and are strongly evocative of the work of Pierre Chapo, sharing the same commitment to honest materials, structural clarity, and craftsmanship.
The chairs feature solid elm wood frames with excellent joinery, including clean mortise-and-tenon connections and well-balanced proportions. The seats and backs are formed by original leather sling elements, tensioned across the frames and secured with exposed metal hardware on the sides. These functional construction details are both structural and decorative, reinforcing the chairs’ utilitarian yet refined character.
The original leather presents a strong, beautifully patinated cognac tone, with rich depth of color, natural creasing, and surface wear consistent with age and use.
