About the Item

Beautiful set of four B64 “Cesca” dining chairs made in Italy in the 1970s. Cesca chairs were initially designed in 1928 by French Hungarian architect Marcel Breuer and named after his daughter Francesca. Modernist, architect, and furniture designer Marcel Breuer extended the sculptural vocabulary he had developed in the carpentry shop at the Bauhaus into a personal architecture that made him one of the world’s most famous architects at the peak of 20th-century design. These Bauhaus-style armchairs, a unique blend of modernism and functionality, are a prized addition to any 20th-century design furniture collection. The chrome tube frame and the Wicker Wien Straw seat and back, accented with a natural brown beech edge, are distinctive features that set these chairs apart. Despite their vintage condition, the wooden back, as shown in the pictures, has some charming chips, while the chrome structure remains in perfect condition, free from any signs of oxide or rust.
