About the Item
This mid-century dining chair set was born from a desire to create a design that was comfortable, organic and cosy in its simplicity. The design incorporates subtle, yet stunning decorative elements on a base that Scandinavians like to call “honest design”.
This set carries with it the same beloved modernist characteristics applied to American, Scandinavian, and Italian mid-century design – simple, functional – and shows the generally less known rustic side of European design of the era. The set’s aesthetic is defined by the thick, straight wooden lines and the minimal backrests. The backrests are hollowed out, and the shape is the single round element of the design. The structure comprised of wooden blocks creates an airy and sturdy look that is further enhanced by the legs’ stretchers. The overall design of these chairs is reminiscent of the French brutalist pieces of the era with the additional charm provided by the woven rush seats. This design element with expert weaving, pairs beautifully with the solid wood bodies, and gives this set’s pieces their rustic and organic look.
Defined by clean, smooth lines, and excellent joinery, each of these dining chairs was created by exceptionally skilled craftsmen who made sure these chairs are durable, sturdy and functional, while their expertise and use of high-quality wood and rush make each piece a beautiful design heirloom.
