About the Item

Exceptional Quality set of Eight (six sides, two arms) Antique American hand carved and pierced mahogany "Gothic Chippendale" style Dining Chairs with chamfered straight, moulded legs. The superbly hand carved back splat evidences scrolled ears along the crestrail, acanthus-leaf carved "parchment scrolled" knuckles, serpentine front seat rail with superb age-appropriate patina. The slip-in seats are upholstered in a needlepoint-type fabric. Please note the images without the seat showing the construction reminiscent of period Federal chairs. Wonderful dense mahogany.
