About the Item
This impressive set of ten French Louis XVI style dining chairs was crafted circa 2000 from finely carved walnut with gilt embellishments. The suite includes eight side chairs, each measuring 22 inches wide by 27 inches deep and 48 inches high, along with two larger armchairs at 25.5 inches wide, offering generous proportions and deep, comfortable seating.
Each frame reflects the elegance of the Louis XVI tradition, with arched backs crowned by ribbon cresting, carved laurel garlands highlighted in parcel-gilt, and finely fluted tapering legs. The armchairs, or fauteuils, are further distinguished by scrolling arms and molded supports. The upholstery, in a warm rust-orange striped fabric, provides a striking contrast to the walnut patina and the soft glow of the gilded carvings.
Substantial yet refined, this complete dining suite offers both presence and versatility. The timeless Louis XVI design allows for easy reupholstery to suit a new interior palette, while the antique-inspired craftsmanship and proportions ensure comfort and elegance. In good condition commensurate with age and use, the frames are sturdy with only minor surface wear, and the upholstery remains in a very good, serviceable state.
