About the Item
A Fabulous Set of Four Antique English marquetry inlaid mahogany Sheraton Style, Edwardian period, diminutive side chairs with upholstered seats (some of the gimp around the seat is loose.) These chairs and the inlay were after the designer Robert Adam who loved using neoclassical designs on furniture. The amazing, hand pierced back splat and the "torch" treatment along the capitals of the stiles as well as the handsomely hand carved and turned tapered, circular legs speak to the quality of the cabinetmaker who made these. The inlaid panel along the crestrail is exquisite and displays many exotic woods including satinwood. These chair are strong, sturdy and show no signs of weakness or wobbliness. They would be delightful around a games table or small breakfast table or used as two pairs flanking various areas of the home.
