About the Item

This elegant set of four Model 42 dining chairs, designed by Kai Kristiansen, showcases the timeless sophistication of Mid-Century Danish design. Crafted from solid teak with a warm, natural finish, the chairs feature sleek lines and ergonomic shaping, complemented by newly upholstered seats in a genuine Italian leather hide in a olive green tone that promises both comfort and style. Perfectly restored, this quartet enhances any dining area, kitchen, or collector’s curated space with its blend of Scandinavian craftsmanship and modern appeal. Kai Kristiansen (b. 1929), a renowned Danish furniture designer, is celebrated for his contributions to Mid-Century Modern design during the 1950s and 1960s. Trained at the Danish School of Arts and Crafts, Kristiansen collaborated with manufacturers like Aksel Kjersgaard to create iconic pieces like the Model 42 chair, known for their use of teak and minimalist elegance. His work remains highly sought after by collectors and interior designers. The Model 42 chairs were produced by Aksel Kjersgaard, a Danish furniture company active in the mid-20th century, known for its high-quality teak furniture. Based in Denmark, the firm partnered with designers like Kai Kristiansen to craft pieces that embody the Scandinavian design ethos, blending functionality with aesthetic refinement, a legacy cherished by enthusiasts today. ---Dimensions--- Width: 21.25 in / 53.98 cm Depth: 20 in / 50.8 cm Height: 29.5 in / 74.93 cm Seat Height: 18 in / 45.72 cm This gorgeous set of iconic Model 42 dining chairs has recently undergone a partial restoration process featuring new upholstery. The solid Burmese teak frames and legs are in 100% original, vintage condition and show some some minor signs of wear such as nicks and surface scratches (all of which can be seen in the detail photos and natural light video provided). With that said the wood is in overall very good vintage condition. As purists, we strive to leave all of our pieces in as original condition as possible. However we do offer restoration services and a full carpentry shop which can professionally sand and refinish the teak on each chair included in the sale price. If this option interests you please message us prior to checkout as this service can require up to 12-14 days of lead time. The upholstery, redone in a fabulous genuine Italian leather hide with character-rich olive tones, is in new never-sat-in condition and also features new medium density foam for maximum comfort and longevity. The leather shows only the wear of a once living animal (ranch brands, scars etc.). This stunning set of Model 42 dining chairs is incredibly comfortable, structurally solid and ready for a literal lifetime more of use thanks to their recent restoration process. Please view all photos and video provided for details on this set's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
