About the Item
Set of six dining chairs designed by Jos De Mey as part of the Abstracta series, produced by Van den Berghe-Pauvers in Ghent, Belgium, during the 1960s. Each chair features a solid beech frame with clean, architectural lines and slightly tapered legs. The seats are upholstered in black skai, complementing the warm tone of the wood. The backrest is subtly curved for comfort and secured with visible wooden dowels.

Jos De Mey
Jos De Mey was a Flemish-Belgian painter. He is primarily known for depictions of impossible objects in a photo-realistic style, with acrylic paintings constituting the majority of his work. He frequently depicted characters of other artists, notably Magritte, M. C. Escher, and Bruegel. Prior to his focus on painting, he taught and studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. At the time of his death De Mey resided in Zomergem, Belgium.
