About the Item
Rooted in Renaissance lineage, this set of six 1960s Italian dining chairs offers a refined homage to the traditional curule—also known as the Savonarola—form. The iron frames are defined by their signature X-shaped base and arched stretcher, which connects the front and rear legs.
Turned bronze finials and ball feet add warmth and contrast to the darkened iron, while the loose upholstered backrests introduce a lighter, more relaxed gesture. Woven in an ivory jacquard with a soft botanical motif, the seats and backs lend textural nuance to the robust frame. At once decorative and grounded, these chairs bring historic gravitas to a dining setting without overpowering it. Reupholstery recommended.
Condition: Good vintage condition. The iron frames and bronze details display an age-appropriate patina throughout. Seats are foam-filled without springs and offer firm support. The ivory jacquard upholstery shows staining and fraying in several areas.
