Set of 8 Spindle-Back Chairs in Oak by 'De Ster' Gelderland, 1960's
Set of 8 solid oak spindle-back chairs by De Ster Gelderland, made in the 1960's. The backrest has a carved top rail with a small decorative detail. It gives the chairs a rustic, almost playful touch. The outer spindles run through the top rail, which makes the backrest extra strong.
The seats are carved to fit the body well. Comfortable to sit on, even for long dinners. The legs taper in reverse – thin at the top, thicker at the bottom – which gives them a solid, grounded look. The wood has a warm patina built up over decades. It brings out the grain and the craftsmanship.
They share something with the work of Guillerme et Chambron, especially the use of spindles, and with Rainer Daumiller’s chairs when you look at the seat shape. That makes them interesting for collectors who like this style.
They are in very good condition. Strong and stable. Easy to ship worldwide. We can soft pack them, so shipping costs stay low.
The chairs have been thoroughly cleaned and the wood has had some light condtioning....
