About the Item
Set of eight dining chairs model "Darby" designed by Torbjørn Afdal. Produced in Norway by Nesjestranda Møbelfabrikk. Made from solid palisander with original leather upholstery in burgundy. Expertly crafted with beautiful wood work as well as super fine upholstery made by a skilled leatherworker. All eight chairs remain in very good vintage condition with their original leather upholstery in very good condition as well. Light patina from age and use can be seen throughout the chairs but is subtle.
Torbjørn Afdal was one of the leading designers at Bruksbo Tegnekontor and in Scandinavia. Afdal became more well known when his furniture was bought by US first lady Jacqueline Kennedy and by the Japanese Emperor. In later years, he was granted the commission to design the parliamentary and chairs and tables to the courthouse in Oslo.
Come with valid CITES-certificate from Swedish board of agriculture.
