About the Item

A set of four Austrian Biedermeier dining chairs from the mid-19th century, with lyre-shaped backs, carved urns and new upholstery. Each of this set of Biedermeier side chairs features an exquisite lyre-shaped back, adorned with a carved splat depicting an antique urn with gadroon motifs. A linen-covered seat accented with brass nailhead trim is raised on four saber legs, the front ones showing a more pronounced movement. Typical of the Biedermeier period that borrows without exaggeration from the previous French Empire era, the chairs exude an air of understated elegance. With their lovely patina and refined décor, this set of four Austrian Biedermeier dining room side chairs, circa 1850 will bring an undeniable presence in any home.
