Set of Four Brutalist Oak Dining Chairs, Belgium, 1960s This authentic set of four solid oak dining chairs perfectly embodies the expressive geometry and handcrafted honesty of Belgian Brutalist design from the 1960s. Made from richly grained oak, each chair features bold, architectural lines and a superbly tactile patina that reflects decades of gentle use. The tall, sculpted backrests with integrated hand-cut handles give these chairs a distinct sculptural identity while maintaining a functional, monastic simplicity. The thick solid seats are subtly curved for comfort, supported by splayed legs joined by strong cross stretchers — a hallmark of the robust construction typical of the Belgian post-war artisanal workshops. Executed with a strong sense of proportion and craftsmanship, the set recalls the aesthetic vocabulary of designers such as De Puydt, Van Lith, or the workshops of Mechelen, where modernist ideals met rustic tradition. The natural oak finish shows deep grain patterns and a warm honey tone, harmonising beautifully with both contemporary and vintage interiors. All four chairs are in very good original condition with a beautiful natural patina and only minor traces of age consistent with careful use. Fully checked in our atelier and ready for daily use.
