About the Item

Set of Seven Late 18th Century Italian Painted Dining Chairs A rare and lovely set of Italian hand-painted dining chairs consisting of two armchairs and five side chairs hand-painted in gold paint on the upper back frame and arms with a cream ribbon designed back and center medallion depicting old master scenes in oil. Round tapered legs painted in cream with bands of gilt paint. Seats upholstered in green velvet. Whilst the finish shows age, flaking and loss in some areas, the upholstery is in very good condition. Wear consistent with age and wear. Sturdy, heavy, well upholstered in sage green velvet. Structurally sound. From a private collection in East Hampton, New York.
