About the Item

Set of six 19th century French Charles X walnut dining chairs represent yet another example of the incredible amount of style revivals that occurred during and after the reign of Napoleon III. Hand-crafted from fine French walnut, each chair features a gracefully contoured seat back for surprising comfort, with upholstered seats that can easily be re-upholstered in your coordinating fabric, with whatever padding suits your tastes. Each seatback upright is a solid piece of walnut from top to floor, expertly joined to the seat framework, with scrolled front legs for an added stylistic touch. The top of the seatback is arched and curved for maximum comfort, while the seatback itself is comprised of two crossed lateral members that are finely carved to present a scepter-like appearance, providing a subtle regal touch. Circa 1880s Each measures 35.5 H x 18.5 W x 19.5 D; seat 18.5 H.
