About the Item

Beautiful Set of six Biedermeier board chairs from Vienna, Austria, circa 1830. Wonderful bright book-matched cherry veneer (shovel) and solid wood (frame and legs). Long and slightly curved, conical square-tapered legs. Refinished condition, very stabile with old mesh, well preserved. Underneath the mesh, there are black colored board giving extra stability. The edges of the shovels have been ebonized and polished. Finely hand-polished with shellac (French polished). Board chairs are typical austrian Biedermeier models, sometimes they have been used with additional seat cushions, which are optional.
