About the Item

Ico Parisi’s talent for refining structure into elegance is evident in this rare pair of Model 110 dining chairs, designed in 1961 for Figli di Amedeo Cassina in Meda. The model is well-documented, including in the Parisi catalogue raisonné (p. 546), and represents a key moment in the designer’s architectural approach to furniture. Design Each chair features a dark-stained solid teak frame, whose sweeping curves and subtle detailing speak to Parisi’s sense of balance and lightness. The sharply defined arc of the front stretcher adds tension to the silhouette, while the sculptural backrest supports create a fluid transition between seat and back. These architectural elements are tempered by comfort: the gently angled backrest and deep seat provide support without compromising the slender profile. The chairs have recently been reupholstered in a burnt orange fabric, which complements the warm tones of the wood and underscores the mid-century Italian aesthetic. Designed during a period when Parisi was refining his modernist language, the Model 110 blends rational construction with a soft, almost lyrical rhythm. This pair presents an opportunity to acquire original examples of Parisi’s work in a condition that reflects both their enduring design and thoughtful restoration. Condition Both chairs are structurally sound and retain their original teak frames. The upholstery has been newly redone in a textured orange fabric, with cushions that are comfortable and neatly finished.

Wingback Armchairs In Poplar And Mohair By Orlando Orlandi, Italy 1950 s
By Orlando Orlandi

Not much is known about Milanese architect Orlando Orlandi except that he worked with Gio Ponti for a certain period of time. It has been suggested by various sources that this specific design is also a fruit of their collaboration, but this has not been confirmed. It may be assumed that the gentlemen shared their avant-garde formal language. Graceful, powerful and very architectonic. Imagine a décor from a Luca Guadagnino...
