About the Item

A superb Set of Eight (six side chairs and two armchairs or carvers) Antique English mid-19th century hand carved solid mahogany Chippendale style Dining Chairs. The crestrail, back splat and stiles are extraordinarily and crisply hand-carved and pierced while the cabriole legs are profusely carved at the knee and terminate in ball and claw feet. The slip-in upholstered seats are in the fabric in which they were purchased in England and in great condition (but can be easily removed and their upholstery replaced for less than half a yard of fabric each seat.) The chairs are gracious in size and very comfortable. They are sturdy and without any weaknesses. They are in great overall age-appropriate condition with the smallest bit of carved areas on one or two of the chairs just mentioned for condition accuracy. The finish is gorgeous and clear. Please study the details on these chairs as they are exquisite and not your "average" Chippendale style 19th century chairs - they are superior! arm: 38.5" H., 21" D. (at feet), 24.5" W. (at knee), 22" W. (at seat) 17" seat depth, 19" seat height, 28" arm height Side: 38" H., 20" D. (at feet), 23.5" W. (at knee)
