About the Item

Set of ten beautiful fruitwood dining chairs by André Groult designed in 1912; the set comprises eight side chairs and two armchairs, all with fine woodwork and carved elements throughout. The chairs have backrests that are slightly curved and showcase a centre bouquet of signature flowers (alternating in direction) in a lattice-back basket or vase, a top edge framed by a twisted cord and tassel shaped detail, and crisscrossing accents on the bottom portion of the back rest in the shape of leaves. The chairs display arched back legs, four tapering stretchers for support, linear channelling near the edges, and seats upholstered in an off-white and blue woven fabric. Stamped "Groult" and marked on the underside of seat. Attributed to Louis Süe as a collaborator of design.
