We are delighted to offer this stunning suite of twelve circa 1800 Gothic revival, hand carved oak dining chairs with early silk embroidered upholstery, most likely from France These chairs were purchased by a private client over 20 years, they paid over £20,000 for them from a reputable antiques dealer These are a beautiful original suite, the patina is as genuine as it comes, the warmth and wear of the timber is simply glorious. The carving is ornate and very much in the Gothic Pugin taste, its architectural and has elements of the palace of Westminster and various grand churches. The upholstery looks early, its silk thread embroidered depicting early lions, roosters and tress Condition wise is exactly as you would hope to find for the period, there are some age related losses and timber shrinkage as you would expect, structurally they are 100% solid and sound X2 High back dimensions Height:- 108cm Width:- 44cm Depth:- 48cm Seat height:- 48cm X10 standard dimensions Height:- 100cm Width:- 42cm Depth:- 45cm Seat height:- 47cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, This item is available for collection from our Pulborough warehouses RH20 1DF. CONDITION Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description pertaining to the condition. Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
