About the Item

More information coming soon… Crafted by an immensely talented woodworker (circa 1880), this French walnut wood tabouret has wonderfully carved lion paw feet. The large paws, which are detailed with tufts of fur, are topped by thick outswinging, volute legs embellished with curled leaves. Several layers of molding, including one adorned with foliage set within linked niches, surround the square sitting surface.

Minor nicks and losses. Light evidence of old wood worms, mostly located on the feet and legs. Traces of old restoration, coupled with more recent work to the feet.
