About the Item

Hold onto your kombucha, because this modular seating unit is about to take your living room from meh to magnificent! Straight out of the Danish design playbook of the 1960s and into your stylish home, this Hans Olsen masterpiece for Bramin Møbler is like the Swiss Army knife of furniture. Picture this: a solid teak daybed/bench that’s got more tricks up its sleeve than a magician at a kid’s birthday party. Accompanying this beauty are two low-slung chairs with caning, freshly refinished, they practically squeak "new." These chairs aren't just regular chairs; they’re the chameleons of seating. Slide them into the bench for an American-style setup that screams “family movie night,” or place them on the floor for a traditional Japanese vibe that whispers “zen AF.” And let’s not forget the solid teak coffee table, which also moonlights as a bench buddy, fitting perfectly into the mix. But the magic doesn’t stop there. Each piece in this modular wonderland can be moved around like puzzle pieces, giving you endless seating arrangements. It’s like having a living room made of Lego bricks but way classier. The set even comes with its original cushions, which we've had custom reupholstered in a luxurious white bouclé that’s so soft, you’ll feel like you’re sitting on a cloud. Use them or not—the choice is yours. Comfort and aesthetics are having a party, and you’re invited! And here’s a juicy tidbit; this piece was made famous by the Bramin case study house ‘Bass House’ or ‘#20B’, completed in 1958. Designed for the legendary industrial and graphic designer Saul Bass and his brilliant biochemist wife, Dr. Ruth Bass, this home showcased the versatility of this set. In the vintage photos, you can see the TV bench strutting its stuff in the living room and by the pool, proving it's just as comfortable indoors as it is soaking up the sun. Saul Bass was known for using these chairs directly on the ground, as pictured, embodying that laid-back, cool-kid vibe we all aspire to. Every inch of this set has been expertly refinished to bring out the natural beauty of the teak, making it shine brighter than your aunt’s silverware at Thanksgiving. Meet the Designer Hans Olsen Hans Olsen wasn’t just any designer—he was the Harry Styles of mid-century modern furniture. Known for his innovative and functional pieces, Olsen brought the perfect blend of sleek design and practicality. His work for Bramin Møbler is a testament to his genius, offering pieces that don’t just fill a room but transform it. With clean lines and impeccable craftsmanship, Olsen’s designs are like the Nordic diet: minimalist, healthy, and oh-so-stylish. Fun fact: Olsen’s work often emphasized the idea of adaptable living spaces, which is why this set is the epitome of versatile design. With this modular marvel, you’re not just buying furniture; you’re adopting a new lifestyle. It’s quirky, it’s classy, and it’s ready to turn your living space into a design haven. So, why wait? Give your living room the glow-up it deserves! We have this set alongside a Hans Wegner Papa bear chair, and a Finn Juhl settee and not only does it make a statement, it steals the show!1 Chairs measure: W 24.5″ x D 26″ x H 19.5″ (chair seat height: 5″ on the floor, 9" if using the cushions) Table measures: W 24″ x D 24.5" x H 10″ Bench measures: W 77″ x D 26" x H 12″

This sofa is spectacular! Designed by H.W. Klein for Bramin Mobler in the late 1950's, this sculptural sofa is just as comfortable as it is beautiful. With long, clean lines and arched wingback sides, the body is reminiscent of an Arne Jacobsen egg chair. The back of the sofa showcases the solid teak frame that perfectly cradles the body of the sofa. Grande Divano Curvo Boomerang Sofa, After Gio Ponti, C. 1950
By Gio Ponti
Located in Culver City, CA
This has to be one of the most beautiful sofas our gallery has ever had. This piece is early Italian1950's. Similar to pieces by Gio Ponti, Ico Parisi and Vladimir Kagan this large curved sofa features walnut legs and has been reupholstered in a fine, white, Belgian boucle. The boomerang-shaped sofa is a true masterpiece that embodies the essence of Italian design. Italian modern design is known for its clean lines, bold shapes, and exquisite attention to detail, making them timeless pieces of art that have stood the test of time. This particular sofa, is a stunning piece that exudes elegance and sophistication. The unique boomerang shape of the sofa is both stylish and practical, as it offers a comfortable seating experience while also being a visually striking addition to any room. The sofa is upholstered in a white Belgian boucle fabric, which adds to its luxurious appeal and complements its sleek design. This boomerang shaped sofa measures 90" long on the longer side, and 75" long on the shorter side. This gorgeous sofa could fit into a corner, but hiding those 9 splayed cone legs, and curved back lines wouldn't quite do this sofa justice. This vintage Italian piece is constructed with the highest level of quality. This sofa in particular has 8 way hand tied springs, the seating cushion has springs, the stuffing all horsehair and the upholstery was a worn mohair. We have remarkable photos documenting sofa before and during restoration. While Gio Ponti is regarded as one of the most significant Italian designers; his contemporaries, such as Achille Castiglioni, Vico Magistretti, and Ettore Sottsass, also contributed to the world of Italian design. Castiglioni, for instance, was known for his playful and functional designs, while Magistretti was renowned for his minimalist aesthetic. Sottsass, on the other hand, was a pioneer of the Memphis Group, which was known for its bold and colorful designs. We currently have this sofa in the gallery alongside a pair of Jean Royere chairs...
