About the Item

This rare modernist lounge set was manufactured by the Swedish manufacturer Holm Fabriker AB in the early 1960s. It consists of a four-seater sofa and an armchair. It was finished with the highest quality velor material in shades of royal blue. The material has a high abrasion cycle and a hydrophobic protective coating. The base is made of solid wood turned legs. Rounded, contoured sides with wooden details and quilted backrests add an original character. This set has loose seat cushions. The piece looks extraordinary and has been made with care and precision, so it can be placed in a central place that will allow you to appreciate the form from all sides. Karl Holm established his factory in 1918. He was a qualified professional in his field. In 1919, he started producing sofa frames, which were his specialty. As time went on, the company grew. In 1936 an upholstery workshop was added. Gradually, the factory began to specialize in the production of reclining sofas with its own patents, but armchairs and other furniture were also produced. The company survived until the 1970s and went down in history. This set is in very good vintage condition. The upholstery has been renewed. The seat is 45 cm high. Armchair height 80 cm width 85 cm, depth 75 cm. The colors of the products shown in the photos may differ slightly from the actual ones. This is due to individual monitor settings and lighting conditions – the photos were taken in artificial light, which may affect the perception of colors. However, we strive to ensure that the photos reflect the actual appearance of the product as faithfully as possible. The offer may include photos of item in the living space, but these are for illustrative purposes only.

Mid-Century Australian Modern Teak Sofa Armchairs by Parker Furniture, 1950s
By Parker Furniture
Located in Warszawa, Mazowieckie
This impressive set of sofa and two armchairs was designed and produced by the Australian company Parker Furniture in 1956. Parker has a legacy of creating some of the finest Mid-Century furniture. These eco-friendly seats are no exception. In an elegant, deep design with perfect proportions, there are simple pillows covered with a characteristic designer material in the color of royal blue, which complements the scultured structure of the frame. The cushions can be raised and the pieces have a spring frame. Elegant, aerodynamic arches are embedded in a low-line solid teak frame that creates an ultra-streamlined 20th century classic. Parker reflects the lightness of form present in the best Mid-Century design and this highly organic living-room set by Parker are a great example of a coveted modernist style. Clean lines and a relaxed profile come together to create a comfortable and stylish pair with a timeless feel. The beauty of these elements can be seen in thoughtful details. The sharp angles visible in the armrests and rear slats add sophistication to this forward-looking design. The set is signed with a label on the wooden frame and an insert on the cushions. Sleek low-back style and sophisticated design are examples of Parker's form from the 1950s. Armchair has 75x69x73cm. The height of seat is 42 cm Parker Furniture began as ‘Dagger and Parker’, a partnership formed between craftsman Alf Dagger, and salesman Jack Parker, after the depression era. From humble beginnings, the company quickly grew, making government tender furniture. Originally, the company made mainly traditional style furniture – reproductions of antique or art deco styles. In the mid 1940s, Tony Parker...

Swedish Cabinetmaker Sofa and Armchairs, Sweden, 1950s
Located in Utrecht, NL
Svensk design, “Swedish design”, is unquestionably a conventional and popular branding device, with many companies explicitly promoting their products as examples of god design, “good design”. But svensk design does not simply represent “good” design made in Sweden, it also projects a powerful, concrete rendering of a sort of essentialized “Swedishness” embedded in objects, such as this sofa and armchairs. Rounded out lines, unexpected curvature and innovative shapes from every angle define the design of this set. The aesthetic recalls classic English upholstered furniture...
