Kropacek Bentwood Armchairs in Texel Sheepskin – Mid-Century Czech icons, fully reupholstered in ultra-soft, long-lasting Dutch Texel sheepskin with honey blond bentwood frames. Collectible, authentic, and irresistibly comfortable.
This elegant set of two bentwood armchairs, designed in the 1940s by the celebrated Czech designers Karel Kozelka and Antonin Kropacek, embodies the perfect balance of sculptural form and enduring comfort. Created in Prague, then Czechoslovakia, these pieces are iconic examples of Mid-Century Modern European design, renowned for their refined lines and exceptional craftsmanship.
The chairs feature honey blond bentwood frames, whose graceful curves reveal the duo’s mastery of form while offering both structural strength and visual fluidity. Decades of careful use have enriched the wood’s surface, highlighting its warm golden tone and natural grain.
Each armchair has been expertly reupholstered in premium Texel sheepskin, sourced from the Netherlands. Texel sheepskin is highly prized for its remarkable softness, dense wool structure, and natural durability, qualities developed by the unique Texel sheep breed and the island’s salty sea air climate. The hides are often medicinally tanned, ensuring they retain their natural qualities for decades.
