About the Item

Mid-Century, organically shaped, molded fiberglass swivel armchair. Designed by Finnish designer Yrjö Kukkapuro in 1966 for the Haimi company. Kukkapuro, a leading Modernist in Finnish furniture design bases his designs on aesthetic, functional innovation, user experience, and ergonomics. His extraordinary design career spans all the way from the mid-1950s to the present day. Highlights of Kukkapuro's body of work are on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Visible patina and fading. Cushion loss (dry rot). One chair squeaks when moved. Moderate scratching and holes.
