About the Item

Brutalist Oak Lounge Chairs by Esko Pajamies for ASKO, Finland (1970s) These are rare versions of the brutalist lounge chairs designed by Esko Pajamies for ASKO in Finland during the 1970s. These heavy, high-quality chairs feature a dark-stained oak frame and newly upholstered cushions in soft teddy fabric. They are striking pieces that enhance any interior space, including living rooms, family rooms, screening rooms, or offices. Additionally, they are well-suited for hospitality or corporate environments, such as boutique hotel lobbies, cocktail bars, members' clubs, or luxury boutiques. Choosing mid-century design furniture promotes sustainability by utilizing existing pieces that can be given a second, third, or even fourth life. Mid-century furniture is often made of high-quality materials and built to last for generations. Many pieces have a rich history, and their signs of wear offer a glimpse into their previous owners' lives. Esko Pajamies (1931-1990) graduated as an interior architect from the School of Art and Design in 1954. He specialized in furniture design from an early age, with his signs characterized by durability and functionality, often featuring innovative technical solutions. Pajamies is best known for the Bonanza and Hopeasiipi furniture sets.
