About the Item

This listing is priced for (1) chair with 50" hanging chain. We have (2) chairs available and they are an exact match. We can provide a custom shipping quote if you desire both. Want to make your friends jealous? Well then this sexy wicker scoop chair hanging from your ceiling should do the trick. This Jai Alai style design is effortlessly graceful with contours that create the perfect pitch (pun intended) for a relaxed sit. A sturdy, nearly invisible metal interior "skeleton" frame provides serious strength and stability to this delicate looking lounger. The thick metal loop at the top provides for easy installation and the chair comes with it's original 50" metal chain and clasp. A shimmering duet of vintage lounge sculpture, this pair of restored hanging scooped basket chairs exudes sculptural grace and free-spirited elegance. Each measures approximately 22 inches (56 cm) wide, 23½ inches (60 cm) deep, and 43½ inches (110 cm) high (to the top of the chain assembly), generous proportions that allow them to float in space while still commanding the eye. We don't know who made this chair or what country is was produced, but to the best of our knowledge, it's probably made in the USA circa 1970's. Our research came up with zilch, so rest assured knowing you will be the only kid on the block with this sensuous swinging scoop. Our restoration team primed and painted these magnificent chairs to match the original color and sheen. The process begins with deep cleaning and few minor repairs to the wicker. Finally the chairs are spray painted in both primer and top coat. Rendered in crisp white wicker over a hidden metal skeleton frame, the chairs balance strength with delicacy: the nearly invisible steel armature gives structural integrity and poise while allowing the form’s fluid curves to reign. The wicker has been meticulously restored — repaired, re-painted with primer and matching top coat — so that it echoes its original sheen, bridging vintage charm and renewed vigor. The suspended design includes a robust metal loop and the original 50-inch chain and clasp, enabling these chairs to swing comfortably from ceiling beams or supports. The sweeping “scoop” profile — softer on the edges, voluptuous at the form’s arc — invites relaxed repose while also sculpting an inviting silhouette in any room bathed in light. These chairs are ideal for a sunroom, a covered porch, or indoors where ceiling height allows their full drama to unfold. They are at once cozy and theatrical; playful yet composed. Their origin may be uncertain, but their presence is unmistakeable: expressive pieces for collectors who prize distinct form, textural layering, and spirited design that transcends the purely functional. Owning this pair is to possess not just seating, but atmosphere — moments of suspended ease, airy beauty, and timeless vintage character.
