An Italian ‘Alky’ chair designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli in 1969. The sculptural, modern design was exhibited with the Piretti Collection at NeoCon in 1988. This chair retains its original brown upholstery and features an aluminum footed base with plastic gliders. This piece looks amazing from every angle and floats beautifully in a seating area. It’s versatile, comfortable, and a fantastic size.
Giancarlo Piretti was an Italian Furniture Designer born in Bologna in 1940. There he trained at the Istituto Statale d'Arte until 1960. Giancarlo Piretti served as the head designer for Anonima Castelli for many years.
Condition: Fair vintage condition. Reupholstery and new foam required; we have elected to sell this chair in its current state so the end user can select fabric. Upholstery services are available through our showroom (Fabric + Upholstery Labor is not included in the purchase price).

Giancarlo Piretti
Giancarlo Piretti was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1940. He attended art schools there and subsequently taught Interior Design. During that time, he was also designing furniture for Anonima Castelli. He has won numerous awards and has items in many museums, including MoMA, New York. He still lives and works in Bologna with his son, designer Alessandro Piretti.
