About the Item

A rare ‘Superstar’ lounge set by Mid Century Danish furniture producer Trygg Mobler that was only produced in limited numbers between 1973-76. This features tan leather upholstery, that nestled into a canvas sling support that is suspended between a steel frame. The frame is painted a dark brown with some slight reddish undertones rather than chrome's like some other models. The superstar chair was produced by Trygg Mobler for a limited period as Vatne who produced the Falcon chair successfully halted their production with a court action taken against Trygg Mobler. As a result the superstar chair is much rarer and more highly sort after. Falcon style chairs were originally designed in 1970 by Sigurd Ressell for Vatne Mobler. They come in several variations with later models using a bent wood frame rather than the steel frame. Whilst the superstar chair was produced a couple of years later with a couple of variations that most consider to be an improvement. The key differences between the falcon chairs and the superstar chair are the superstar chairs have buckled straps that attach the canvas sling to the frame and come with the addition of arm rests which add to the comfort of the chair. The chair is in very good condition with the frame's paintwork holding up remarkably well over the past 50 years with no noticeable damage. The leather has been nourished and cleaned as there were early signs of cracking on the arm rests. There is some slight discolouration on the leather through use and there is a small repair to the underside of the canvas frame.
