About the Item
The Wire S chairs by Muller Van Severen were created specifically for the Solo House in Spain. Their designs are a striking example of functional minimalism turned sculptural, and the production process of the seats is an exercise in balancing transparency and strength. This form is the Wire S #3 version in stainless steel.
Formed from powder-coated steel rods, each chair outlines a continuous, fluid shape, creating a visual rhythm that feels both light and structural.
Muller Van Severen used the basic form of a mattress as a starting point and then folded it into shape. The mattress was then replaced with a metal grid held together with a massive number of weld points. Each grid was carefully balanced, allowing for as much open space as possible without the volume caving in.
What resulted was an open, airy design that allows them to blend effortlessly into its surroundings while maintaining a bold graphic presence.
Purposefully simple, yet conceptually rich, the Wire S chairs reflect the design duo’s signature blend of refined aesthetics and architectural clarity.
