About the Item

An exceptionally rare and visually commanding oversized swivel lounge chair designed by Italian architect and designer Guido Faleschini, produced by Mariani for the Pace Collection in the late 1970s. This sculptural piece represents the bold intersection of Italian modernism and American luxury interiors—generous in scale, effortlessly comfortable, and architecturally refined. The chair’s deep, enveloping seat and wide, curved form rest on a mirror-polished chrome disc base with a perfectly balanced 360-degree swivel mechanism. The silhouette feels cocoon-like, yet open and inviting, with proportions that make it both functional seating and a striking design statement. Meticulously restored by FMV’s in-house specialists, the chair was fully disassembled, stripped, and reupholstered in rich dark navy velvet, with the stitch pattern and button tufting carefully matched to the original design. The chrome base was professionally hand-polished, enhancing its reflective surface while retaining only minor age-appropriate traces of use. The industrial-grade swivel hardware remains original, smooth-operating, and built to last. Dimensions 34.5″ H × 44.5″ W × 46″ D Seat height: 19″

By Milo Baughman, Bassett Furniture
Located in Chattanooga, TN
Stately, bold, and unapologetically sculptural, this cube-shaped club chair from the 1970s marries architectural assertiveness with inviting comfort. Inspired by the celebrated aesthetic of Milo Baughman, its form exudes masculine confidence—broad, grounded, and strikingly geometric. The deep seat and thick, plush cushions envelop the sitter in luxurious repose, offering a high seat height balanced by an essence of solidity. The reupholstered cover in sumptuous grey velvet enhances the tactile allure. The company’s roots in solid wood construction and simple, elegant proportions shine through in this modernist masterpiece. This 1970s Cubist...
