About the Item
A pair of lounge chairs, model ’Riaza’ for children, designed by Paco Muñoz in 1959. Frame in solid walnut with a seat and backrest formed by a single piece of thick natural leather, sewn by hand. It is inspired by the Spanish friar armchair of the 18th century. Made by Darro in Spain. Designed for the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid project.

Paco Muñoz
Paco Muñoz was a Spanish designer who founded Darro in 1959 as a movement against the recently fallen Franco Regime and to break through the cultural isolation. Founded by Muñoz in 1959, the design company Darro created furniture with a focus on European modernity and to neglect the more traditional, Spanish styles. Being inspired by Italian designers such as Gio Ponti and Scandinavian Modern, the influences of the design aesthetics were visible in Darro's furniture.
