About the Item

Pair of 'Constanze' Lounge Chairs by Johannes Spalt for Wittmann, Austria, circa 1970 Mid-Century Modern, newly upholstered – matching sofa and table available A striking pair of 'Constanze' lounge chairs designed by Professor Johannes Spalt for Wittmann, produced in Austria around 1970. These sculptural chairs are part of the iconic Constanze series, which reflects Spalt’s refined approach to functionalism and his architectural eye for proportion and clarity. Each chair features a clean-lined silhouette with a minimalist black steel frame, paired with newly upholstered cushions in a warm coral red fabric. The chairs offer exceptional comfort and visual lightness, making them ideal as freestanding accent pieces or as part of a full seating group. The upholstery has been professionally renewed with high-quality textile in keeping with the original spirit of the design. The structural integrity and craftsmanship of both chairs remain excellent, a testament to the enduring quality of Wittmann's Austrian production. A matching freestanding sofa (which converts into a daybed) and a coordinating lounge table are available in a separate listing (see final photo for the full set).
