About the Item

This pair of the Scandinavian Modern upholstered high back lounge chairs (model Slædestolen BM-2254) with matching ottomans were designed by Danish designer Børge Mogensen for Fredericia Stolefabrik in Denmark circa 1956. The oak lounge chairs feature angular sled frames with finger joints that support the intricately woven caned backs. The seat back angle is adjustable from upright to a more reclined lounge position. The chairs and ottomans are newly upholstered in an earthy taupe tweed with brown leather ties on the removeable headrests. The arm height is 20". The ottomans measure 20" x 20" x 14" ht. Børge Mogensen was a highly influential Danish designer during the mid-twentieth century and the founding designer for the furniture company Fredericia. Mogensen created pieces that were functional with simple lines. Other famous designers to design for Fredericia include Hans J. Wegner, Nanna Ditzel, Poul M. Volther, Kaare Klint, and Jens Risom.
