About the Item

Pair of immaculate never used Ecuadorian lounge chairs. These chairs came to exist out of a 1960's Peace Corps initiative with USAID to aid local crafts people in Ecuador, Peru and other South American countries to produce and export commercially appealing furniture under the guidance of participating Scandinavian designers, using locally available woods, sustainably harvested and traditional village craft skills at hand-tooling leather with what appears to be Inca motifs. The chairs are held together with rosewood pegs and were designed to disassemble easily for ease and economy of shipment, presumably to North American and European customers. I also have two older chairs, one of them a rocking chair version of this chair in a darker finish, listed separately. No label present but I have seen this chair before with a gold foil label which reads: "Ebanisteria T. Caivinagua Cuenca Ecuador"
