About the Item
A pair of Afromosia (African teak) Kandidaten lounge chairs designed by Ib Kofod-Larsen and produced by Olof Perssons Fåtöljindustri (O.P.E.) in Jönköping, Sweden, circa 1960. Kofod-Larsen—already well regarded in Denmark for his work with Christen
Larsen and Slagelse Møbelværk—was commissioned by O.P.E. to create a collection aimed at revitalizing the Swedish market. The resulting series, including the Sälen (Seal), Samsö, and Kandidaten chairs, became some of the company’s most successful designs.
This particular pair retains its original finish and has not been refinished. The teak frames show surface scratches and minor dents consistent with age and normal use, but remain in solid, attractive vintage condition. The upholstery was redone by the previous owner approximately ten years ago and is still in very good used condition. The chairs are offered as is and have been priced accordingly.
