About the Item
Incredibly handsome pair of chairs for dining, desk or occasional seating with dramatic Star Trek base and original black faux leather over internal fiberglas or ABS shell.
According to our research these were designed as a special private commission by the President of Air France in 1958 for their new Executive Boardroom.
This chair marked the point of stylistic transition for Adnet and personified his vision for the second half of the 20th century.
They may even have been the inspiration for the Concorde!
It is possible to attach the base pointing forward or backward. Shown here both ways.
It MAY be possible to attach a swivel mechanism.

We are fortunate to have two pair of these incredibly stylish and well crafted lounge chairs attributed to Paolo Buffa.
Each chair is made of ebonized solid walnut and features exaggerated sinewey armrests that stretch from the backrest to the floor and have solid cherry spindle back and distinctive double X spindle detailing under the arms.
