About the Item

A large and cozy pair of lounge chairs attributed to Paolo Buffa, made in Italy in the 1940s. These big, voluptuous chairs feature soft curves, rolled arms, curved backs, and feather down cushions. The eye-catching, bulbous form sits atop four sleek, tapered legs which taper to a fine, delicate point, contrasting wonderfully against the rounded, voluptuous form of the chair. These functional beauties are extremely comfortable and incredibly solid, with superb construction. They are wonderful from absolutely every angle, and have excellent presence, capable of fitting in seamlessly with a number of different interior aesthetics, whether mid century modern, art deco, or traditional. The chairs have been reupholstered in a fabulous vintage velvet. We have left the legs original with all that beautiful "wear and tear" patina. Overall, they are in excellent condition with some nominal imperfections to the velvet. Ready for another 80 years.
