About the Item

A vintage and authentic pair of 'Clam Chairs' by Arnold Madsen produced by Vik Blindheim in Norway, 1953. Newly renovated and reupholstered in premium shearling. History: The iconic Clam Chair traces its origins back to 1944, when Danish upholsterer Arnold Madsen created the design in Copenhagen. A year later, Madsen partnered with cabinetmaker Henry Schubell to establish the furniture company Madsen Schubell, dedicated to crafting this distinctive piece. Known in Danish as the 'Muslingstol'—or Clam Chair—it quickly gained recognition for its elegant shape, inspired by the natural form of an open clam shell. In 1953, Madsen Schubell granted exclusive production rights to the Norwegian company Vik Blindheim, marking a new chapter in the chair's history. While numerous versions of the Clam Chair have been produced across Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, the Vik Blindheim edition remains the most thoroughly documented. This ensures its authenticity and enhances its value as a sought-after collectible.

Krogenæs, Pair of Three Legged Stool, "Fjøskrakk" Mod. 522, Pine, Norway, 1960s
Located in Hønefoss, 30
Introducing a beautifully pair of crafted three-legged pine stool, model no. 522 by Krogenæs Møbler. This stunning piece of furniture was designed in Norway in 1964 by none other than the factory owner himself, Rangvald Krogenæs. The stool, known as "Fjøskrakk," or "Milking Stool," draws inspiration from the functional milking stools of the past. Provenance: This particular pair was originally owned by a worker at the Krogenæs factory and originally painted by him. In times gone by, milking cows was a physically demanding task that required long hours of labor in the fields. Milking stools were essential tools that helped milkmaids get down to the level of a cow's udders for easier milking. The three-legged design ensured stability on uneven ground, making it easier to extract the milk. The milk was then carried in buckets suspended from the shoulders by a yoke. The Krogenæs stool...
