About the Item

This beautiful pair of 1980s Post-Modern channel tufted lounge chairs feature three legs, one rear center leg and curved arms which morph in the front two legs, these club chairs have incredible vintage fabric with shades of pink and light blue. The condition of the fabric is excellent for a vintage item, and these chairs are ready to be used immediately - no reupholstery is needed. But if you wish to have these chairs in a different color or fabric - reupholstery is an option. This pair of 1980s Post Modern 'Preview' styled armchairs have been often attributed to Vladimir Kagan and is similar to the 'Deco Chaise' design, would work great in a Post-Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Set of 6 Channel-Tufted Post-Modern Dining Chairs by Finesse, 1970s, Signed
By Steve Chase
Located in Los Angeles, CA
An intriguing and rare set of six vintage dining chairs by Finesse Furniture Ltd., comprised of four side chairs and two armchairs (also known as captain’s chairs). These sculptural, channel-tufted chairs exemplify 1970s Postmodern glamour and offer strong visual appeal with their plush, modular upholstery and cantilevered brass bases. The label from Finesse Furniture Ltd is intact and present on five of the six of the chairs. The distinct silhouette of these chairs defined by stacked, contoured cushions and bold lines recalls the maximalist interiors popularized by designers like Steve Chase, while their construction and proportions also nod to the Art Deco revival and Hollywood Regency influences of the late 1970s and early 1980s. The unique design invites creative reupholstery: each channel-tufted section could be re-covered in contrasting tones or textures for a highly personalized, expressive look. These chairs would pair beautifully with a high-gloss lacquered or burl wood dining table, or a round glass or travertine-top table for a more eclectic aesthetic. This sculptural set of dining chairs by Finesse Furniture Ltd would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Postmodern, or Hollywood Regency interior, but could also add a splash of glam to a Contemporary, Transitional, or even Art Deco inspired home or penthouse apartment. Also consider mixing them in with a Traditional or Minimalist space for a bold juxtaposition. Ideal for a commercial project such as a hotel dining room, members club, or design studio showroom. Consider using as dining chairs, cafe or breakfast table chairs, side chairs, conference or meeting room chairs...

Pair of Club Chairs by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani Italy, c 1970, Signed
By Sormani, Claudio Salocchi
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This newly reupholstered pair of club chairs by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani, circa 1970s, features graceful chrome frames with nubby white bouclé fabric. Signed with 1960s/ 1970s Sormani label as shown in photo gallery. *Note, we have the matching sofa available in another listing. The graceful frames share a design quality with Cassina's LC2 / LC3 design by Le Corbusier, as they are 'buckets of cushions' in similar fashion and comfort. However these Sormani lounge chairs feature some unique subtle details, such as the slight "twist" in the rear legs (see photos). Signed with a Sormani label, this particular rare design is attributed to Claudio Salocchi. While there were several other famous designers who created works for Sormani in this time period, the style best matches Salocchi's work. For collectors looking for something unique and rare within a collection of 1960s/ 1970s Italian designs, this pair of easy chairs are an amazing opportunity. These Cassina LC2 / LC3 style chairs...

Vladimir Kagan Model #100A Barrel Lounge Chair in Velvet, c. 1973, Signed
By Vladimir Kagan
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This rare collectors piece is the Vladimir Kagan model #100-A 'Barrel Lounge Chair' on ball casters, designed in 1947, signed with Vladimir Kagan Designs label. The gorgeous velvet is in a red color but with a hint of burnt orange tone giving it a beautiful warmth and softness that can benefit any space. Signature curvaceous arms make this Barrel chair easily recognizable by design fans and a go-to choice for top interior designs throughout the world. This incredible collector's piece is a glimpse into Vladi's history. The 100-A Barrel chair was designed in 1947, this particular example was produced in circa 1973 in Kagan's new (at the time) state of the art factory in Long Island, after the Hugo Dreyfuss factory burned down in 1972. Highly sought-after by both collectors and interior designers - signed examples like this one being the most desirable as Kagan's designs were often copied throughout the years. This Barrel club chair by Vladimir Kagan for Vladimir Kagan Designs would work great in a Mid-Century Modern, Scandanavian Modern or Danish Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Post-Modern room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as a side chair, cafe or breakfast table chair, bedside chair...
