Stig Poulsson, lounge chair, model 'Bequem', leather, aluminum, ash, Denmark, designed 1968-1969
This 'Bequem' lounge chair is designed by Stig Poulsson. The most striking feature of this extraordinary chair is its sheer size. The width of this chair, almost a meter, is relatively large. Due to this, the chair has a stately, grand appearance. The design holds a simple, strict and clean metal frame with a horizontal ash slat with a soft, loosely hanging leather seat and leather armrests. The chair has been made in a very small production, only a hundred items were made. The first chairs were sold out of Mr. Poulsson’s design store in Kronprinsensgade in Copenhagen and soon thereafter, some were sold for export to US and a few European countries in selected design stores.
Kindly take note that the leather is in patinated condition with spots and stains. One leather strap contains a tear on its end, and therefore needs to be restored. Restoration is possible before shipping by our experienced craftspeople in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized restoration is possible as well.
