A pair of solid oak lounge chairs in the style of René Gabriel, France 1950s. Two identical pairs available, offered per set.
These lounge chairs, created in France during the 1950s, are executed in the distinctive style of René Gabriel, one of the leading figures of French post-war design. Their construction reflects Gabriel’s commitment to clarity, functionality, and honest materiality—qualities that made his work highly influential in the Reconstruction era.
Crafted in solid French oak, the chairs feature clean architectural lines, a slatted backrest, tapered legs, and wide, comfortable armrests. The warm natural patina of the oak highlights the grain and gives the pieces an inviting presence. Each chair retains its original red textured cushions, offering a bold contrast to the wooden frame. The cushions show light age-related wear and can easily be re-upholstered on request.
