About the Item

Ron Arad “Size Ten” Sculptural Lounge Chairs for Moroso, Italy, 1990s These sculptural “Size Ten” lounge chairs, designed by Ron Arad for Moroso in the early 1990s, exemplify the designer’s fluid, organic approach to form. The chairs are characterized by their enveloping, petal-like silhouette and seamless curvature, creating a strong visual presence from every viewpoint. Executed in an elegant two-tone upholstery—warm brown paired with soft beige—the alternating segments emphasize the rhythmic geometry of the design, giving each chair depth, movement, and sculptural definition. The rounded arm panels flow naturally into a gently rising backrest, offering inviting comfort while preserving the bold, architectural identity for which Arad is celebrated. Produced by Moroso, one of Italy’s leading contemporary design manufacturers, these chairs combine expressive sculptural aesthetics with exceptional craftsmanship. Their generous proportions and distinct visual character make them highly suitable for residential interiors, boutique hotels, gallery spaces, or large-scale design projects. A rare opportunity to acquire multiple pieces: 10–15 chairs available, ideal for cohesive interiors or hospitality projects requiring a unified and iconic seating solution. Measurements (per chair) Depth: 85 cm (33.46 in) Width: 77 cm (30.31 in) Height: 76 cm (29.92 in) Seat Height: 44 cm (17.32 in) Condition These chairs remain in very good original condition, showing only minor traces of wear consistent with age and careful use. The two-tone upholstery is clean and well-preserved, with no tears, holes, or major discoloration. The sculptural foam structure retains its strong, organic shaping without deformation or collapse. Light, superficial marks may be present on the fabric from normal handling, though these do not detract from the chairs’ presentation or comfort. The internal construction is solid and stable, offering excellent seating support. Overall, the pieces present beautifully and display the subtle, honest patina that is appreciated in early Moroso production. Ron Arad Albert and Victoria for Moroso Leather Chairs, a Pair
By Ron Arad
Located in Chicago, IL
A continuous flow of curving lines, an image-form drawn without ever lifting the pencil off the paper. Originally a ‘doughnut’ which provided inspiration for a sculpture: squashed, and reworked, using irony to go beyond the usual approach to industrial design. Then the piece itself: the padding and sewn-to-measure upholstery over an inner fibreglass frame reveal the interaction between the technical and expressive merits of the design. Its never-ending lines are sensitive but strong, perfect consonance between surface and form, body and skin. The leather reaches out into the space around it magnifying and reinforcing the materiality of the piece yet without interrupting or overpowering its fluidity. Made it Italy by Moroso designed by Ron Arad (Albert and Victoria...
